These cars were built in 1871 by Jackson & Sharp in Delaware for the Denver and Rio Grande Railway which was starting construction from Denver to Colorado Springs. Builders photos courtesy of the Delaware state archives.
Tap the floor cross beams with an M1.2 tap. No predrilling should be required for this step.
Drill the coupler holes with a #62 drill, then tap 00-90.
Paint the car the desired color. Original specified color was Scarlet Lake with gold striping, black hardware and slate grey roof.
Cut to fit and glue in the window glazing.
Drill the underframe holes for the mounting screws – 1.3mm or #55
Carefully insert Micro-trains #718 wheelsets.
The coach includes an interior. Remove the stove from the end that does not have a smokejack. I painted mine a bright maroon and glued it in using supertack adhesive which allows it to be removed in the future if necessary.
Screw underframe to body and attach Micro-Trains 1015 couplers.
